Texas Dinosaur Tracks
This weekend we took another Texas road trip, but instead of going North, headed South of Fort Worth to Glen Rose, and took William along for a family outing. Willie was on Spring Break all week so Anna and I thought it would be fun for him visit Dinosaur Valley State Park. Actually this was a lot of fun for all of us. We did some back roads exploring to see the countryside and stopped along the way at Cleburne State Park for a picnic lunch. After we ate there William tried to fish a little and Anna and I played with Warlock to get some of his puppy yaya's out. We couldn't of asked for nicer weather. The temps were around 85 and it was the nicest day of the year for 07 yet. So we made it to our destination and have the pictures to share. Neat place! Simple, but for a boy a little magical I'd imagine. I have to admit, I was just as interested as he was with what we'd find there. So let us share. See the extended comments link below for more pictures and commentary. hb

There's something neat about putting your foot in the foot prints of Dinosaurs made over 105 Million years ago. Here's "my claws" in two different foot prints.
William and Warlock enjoying the water. OK, well maybe Wm did :) I think that Warlock just tolerated it. He panicked when Wm was out in the water.

Times in New Orleans & Biloxi, Mississippi Before Katrina and Rita
Remembering New Orleans, Louisiana and Biloxi, Mississippi between Hurricanes Camille and Katrina. I lived in Biloxi in 1986 and 1987. Loved the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. Shot these pictures with my Cannon 35MM way back then. More pictures in the extended comments, Continue Reading" link below.
I thought New Orleans artsy and neat. It's one of America's "true gems" for a city and it's a shame that they had to endure the incompetence's of of our many levels of Government. I believe that the pace of the storm related relief effort (or lack there of) stems from indifference beginning at the top. It's truly a "class thing" (like lack of desire to care about the lower and middle class) and another memorable "Bush Blunder". Like MoM says, "We don't need another "C" average president!" And I'd like to add, "nor special interest, big business, upper-class oriented one!"
I enjoyed Mississippi (before casino's.) Liked the peacefulness of Waveland (when it was there) and Pass Christian also. I know that they'll eventually get back on their feet, they always have after storms, and I wish then and all the sourounding communities there all Gods Speed in doing so! hb
(Special Note: Thanks to my friend Dale for this picture. May he also remain safe. He's working for us in Uzbekistan, I believe.

Drift-a-Bit West Virginia Whitewater Rafting
Kind of very dated, but I've been meaning to add this to my blog for quite a while.
I added a link to Drift-a-Bit, the rafting company that I use to go rafting with in the New River Gorge and Gauley River Valley's in West Virginia. Haven't been on a trip there in years, but I'd like to do it again next year. The New River and Gauley are actually beautiful protected National Parks and National Recreation Area's. I think the New is one of the only North American river's that flow's south to north and has an interesting geological history. On the Upper New, you can take a nice slow drift or enjoy Class-5 Whitewater on the Lower New all year round. And oh yes, there's lots of legends that accompany the trip down the New with a good river guide. The Gauley is navigatable only in the Spring when they open the flood gates of the Summersville Lake Dam and flood the river. Gauley is a blast, whitewater all day long in wetsuits in February. Anyway, I added the Drift-a-Bit link on my favorites to the right. It was hard to find link but a great "small" company to camp with and have fun. hb PS: Yeah, that's me up front in the raft, second one back, river high side. If you go there for any reason you have to see the New River Gorge Bridge. It was build to rust together to be stronger and once a year they have "Bridge Day" so people can base jump legally from it.

Happy 4th of July Everybody!
Happy 4th everyone! We hope you all had a nice long extended weekend and enjoyed a picnic, friends or some fun travel. This weekend Anna and I went to Killeen, Texas to see where she lived and went to school when her dad was stationed at Fort Hood. The above foto was taken at the 1st Cavalry Division's Memorial for our soldiers who died serving our country in Iraq. hb

Pic's of Anna's Folks Place in Georgia
Over the Memorial Day weekend, Anna, Wm and I all flew to Georgia to go to Anna's Family Reunion in Georgia. We packed all our gear in suitcases (which was a first,) flew into Atlanta and then rented an SUV and drove to her Dad's property just north of Dahlonega, around the Suches and Gladdistown area where we set up camp. It's a nice spread of property nestled up against the Chattahoochee National Forrest. Wow it was nice to be in such "green" forested, mountain land after living in Dallas and pancake flat Oklahoma for two years. Really breathtakingly beautiful, Anna took us into the property from the mountain side where you can see for tens of miles and it actually butt's up to the Applition Trail. Over the weekend we had a chance to hike the mountains for a few hours and had timed it just right to catch the sunset from the crest of the mountains. Awesome! Where we we're camping was unimproved land (all wooded) but it added to the flavor of being just a nice spot to do it. Has a cold, fresh stream for bathing and washing and playing with a flat spot of land by the water that would be perfect for a picnic area. We all loved it and I can see why the family likes their land their. Places like it are getting harder and harder to find these days. The town of Dahlonega is really an American gem. It was location of the first good rush in the U.S. and they've managed to keep the downtown historical and flavorful for visitors. Have to thank Anna's folks for a "home style" dinner that they bought is at "The Smith House." "Damn good eat'in" and the best of company. I would be a miss if I we're to neglect to mention the fact that we went to Georgia for Anna's family reunion. The function was fun and Wm and I got to meet half a dozen branches of the family, plus Anna's closest of kin. We had a great time the entire weekend and can't wait to go again. hb

Nice Day at Texas Motor Speedway!
Last month William and I made our way (finally) to the Nextel Race at Texas Motor Speedway. It's about a 45-minute ride from our house to the track. Been a while since I've been to a race. More like eight years! - and I've missed it. This was William's first race and I think that he enjoyed going out there with me. I don't know? What do you think judging by the pictures? Pictures? Yeah there's more, just click on the "Continue Reading" link below to see the rest.
I miss going to the races. Hopefully I can pick it back up someday, just where I left off. There was a period living in Virginia where I found myself at Daytona, Bristol, Rockingham and Dover. I would go to Langley Speedway (one of the oldest track in the states) with my boys, Rich, Rob, Travis and Jay during the Summers. Miss those good times. Occasionally we would also go to Southside, and Dixieland Speedway for a local change but I never made it to the close tracks (Martinsville, South Boston and Richmond.) Anyway, it was usually an every Saturday night thing and Langley was fun with a great line up of Late Models and other classes. Richard Petty raced there and Geoff Bodine actually won his first there.
I did find at rather nice track here in Dallas. It's called the "Devil's Bowl," dirt track of course and only about 30 minute drive from the house. Will have to go back there. I went two weekends ago and it has a nice program. Anyway, you know how racing can get in your blood. I hope that I get it into William's some day and we can do a few more together. I think that I've already talked Anna into Daytona next February, combined with a visit to her folks. We'll see! hb

Quick Trip to Ripley's (Believe it or Not!)
Anna, Wm and I road tripped earier this spring to "Ripley's Believe it or Not!" somewhere in the never-never land between Dallas and Forth Worth. I salvage these two pictures out of all of them - just for fun. Personally, I liked the horror house and was suprised at how much of the wax museum was dedicated to Jesus Christ. Pretty neat place! hb

Monster Truck'in & Cotton Candy Aginn
Last month William and I went to see the Monster Trucks again, only instead of Wichita Falls, in Dallas and we wrangled in Anna for this show too. I know that my future mother in law will love this one too :-D I like to call it the "Cotton Candy Blues" I dare not post myself in the version or this, you would gasp, run away, hid your children and the like. But I thought this one cool enough to Photoshop a little and go to post. I'm not going to post any more pictures of Monster Trucks. I had 4 months of max'd bandwidth use after I posted the movies on my website and Yahoo got a hold of them in their picture directory. Remember the "puffy cotton candy lady" from my pervious truck show pictures? Strange that cotton candy managed it's way into here again. Must be a must to have for a little boy at one of these shows. Anyway, Wm liked the show, and I think that Anna enjoyed it too. My little guy like the special Dragon car crushing visitor and the truck got some serious air bouncing over these cars in the stadium too, which was a little cool.
OK, winter is almost over. I'm glad that Spring is soon upon us. hb

Partay'in with Neen!
After the first week of January, Janine (one of Anna's best friends!) came to see us for a few days. We both enjoyed her visit and I know that Neen had a nice time too. Really hated to see her leave! These two are trouble together, well, maybe for each other and I know that they both know what I mean. Anyway. We went out to do a little party'in on Lower Greeneville in Dallas one night before she left and we had a great time, if not, then it was to say the least entertaining with the character's that hang out down there. I liked this picture, so I thought that I'd share it with you here. Hugs! hb
Strange but true! After Anna graduated from college, her being from Florida and going to school in Georgia, she moved to New Jersey, taking a job there to work. Life would have it that she met Janine in Jersey and she became one of her best friends. Then! I met Anna in Germany when we both worked there and we realized that Janine and my Mom and Dad live about 10 miles apart. That's 1 Turnpike Exit for you oursiders. So this is great!!! We'll get to see Neen everytime that we visit my parents. "Life's too cool sometimes, it's a small world!" hb

A Short Stop Within the Dallas Museum or Art
Last weekend Anna and I finally made our first venture down to the Dallas Museum of Art and I snapped these pic's of glass sculptures in the main lobby of the museum. Anna bought a season pass for us, which was more then worth the price and I'm sure that we'll be back there for more photos as well as appreciative enjoyment of the great works within. We have a ton of things left to see there, only explored three rooms within the first floor so far, but had a nice time doing it. More to come!
Oh, of the exhibits that we looked into, there was a special exhibit by Duchamp, Johns, Cornell and Rauschenberg on the first floor. I have to say that Bob Rauschenberg definitely had a style of art that takes open-minded "imagination" to fully appreciate but his posters for world summit's and peace events in a 1960's display gallery were nothing short of great! hb

Fall at the Dallas Zoo and Plano's Arbor Hill's Nature Preserve
This was a nice visit-weekend with William. Anna, Willieman and I spent some time outdoors enjoying our nice "Texas" fall weather. On Saturday we went to the Dallas Zoo and then on Sunday went on a nature walk to collect leaves and nuts at Plano's Arbor Hill's Nature Preserve near my home. This is a nice place (little secret!) to go to and get out doors. While we were there, Anna spotted a little brown snake making his way across the path and Wm was delighted to befriend him, if only for the moment to move him out of harms way. I'm glad that we had the camera!
Hope you enjoy the pictures. I leave all of my entries open for comments for about two weeks and then I close them. It seems to take the spammer's about 3 weeks for their search engines to find open comments for they're entries. This I succeed here in one victory over their scurge. Make sure that you go to the "continue reading" to view the rest of the pictures. I've decided to step up my efforts to make a gallery page of all my foto's which will amount to a gallery of shutterbug stuff way back through my life. I'm sure that not many are interested but its just more so a personal hobby and interest of mine. I still want to add a few more dedicated web pages for work, recipes and a few other interest. I also want to put pen to e-paper, sort of speak, about some true-to-life stories that i've shared with other over the years. Perhaps I'll make some progress over the winter. As my son says, "That's what "you" get!" hb

Fall Pic's From Around and About Dallas
Just wanted to post some pictures that I've taken this fall. Not much traveling lately because I'm buckling down and trying to pay off my long-standing debts with the hopes for better days financially, getting comfortably positioned to be happily married and moving out of this apartment into a house again with my sweetie and little boy.
Anyway, I attached some pictures of our trip to the Frisco Fall Pumpkin Patch with William, some foto's of our Fort Worth Stock Yards trip (a previous weekend) with Anna, and a few pic's from Halloween and the Texas State Fair in Dallas. Thanks for the loot to go to the Fair Dad! It's expensive.
Of news, I'm in the job market again. Going to begin to look around again. I work at MNBA Bank for Bowe, Bell + Howell on their high-speed mail equipment and Bank of American just bought out MBNA, so out future there is unknown at this point and I'm not all that sure that my company would be able to find work for me within the DFW area should MBNA's doors close here. Just keeping all options and potentials open. I had one interview with Raytheon in McKinney. We'll see if that pans out. I'll keep you informed.
MORE PICTURES THEN THIS!!! Please click on the "Continue Reading" hyperlink line below to see the rest of my fall pictures or the thumbnail foto to the left! hb

9/11 - Patriot's & Happier Days in New York City
I've wanted to post these pictures for some time because William and I went to New York City in May of 2001. We had a good time, but will forever remember this because the twins were still standing at the time. I'm glad that they've dubbed 9/11 Patriot's Day. The people who helped other people there that day were true American's and hero's. They deserve to be honored. Here are a few of the pictures that I have from that NYC visit. Please pardon the resolution, I took these just before I got my digital camera. hb

New News from Dallas
Sorry ALL that I've been busy for a while. Things are going well. There's been a lot of changes recently in my life with moving to Dallas, starting a new job and settling in. I had several weeks of school out of town and a nice vacation with William here in town. Anna's arrived and we're now getting settled in together. All is well and I'll be back here more often now that things are settling down.
Here's a picture of William from a TEXAS RANGERS baseball game that William, Anna and I attended a few weeks back. It was hot, but cool! :)

The 2005 Scarborough Faire Renaissance Fest
This weekend William and I went to the Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival about 35 minutes from our house. First of all, this is a love. I really dig Renn Fest's and second, this one is really, really fun with tons of neat stuff to see and do. William had a blast and I don't ever thing that I will have a bit of trouble talking him into coming the this fest again. I had a great time too! I can't wait until Anna is here so we can go again next year. The Scarborough Faire is only in the spring and ends on Memorial Day, but it open for about two or three months. I know Anna and I will probably have a blast there together. It's a photographer's paradise!!! Hopefully I have a camera upgrade by then. Anyhow, here are a few of my photo's that I shot. We only spent about two and a half hours there and didn't see 50% of everything worth seeing (or doing.) This is an "I can't wait to go back!" hb

Sand Storm & Friends in "F#&%'ed-Up" Places!
My friend Dale sent me these pictures from Al Asad Airbase in Iraq about 2 weeks ago. This storm was on 26 April. Pretty scary, huh?
Al Asad Airfield is the second largest U.S. Airbase in Iraq, located about 180 kilometers West of Baghdad and 12 kilometers Southwest of the Euphrates River in the north.
Dale's e-mail commented, "Do you remember the sand storm in the movie 'The Mummy?' Well, no special effects here!"
All I can say is Yuck! and thanks for the pic's Dale. Thought I'd share them with my fiends.
I've know Dale since 87. We were best of friends. Had a blast hanging out together for the summer at the beaches when we were taking some radio maintenance classes at Biloxi Air Force Base, Mississippi. We went out separate ways, but have kept in touch.
I don't know how many rotations that he's done in the sandbox but I'm glad that it's not me!

I didn't exactly make it a project (this year) but probably will next when Anna's here. Texas is basted in Wild Flower's during the Springtime and I've found that many places are absolutely beautiful. So next year I hope to get our with my lady and get some really nice pictures. Fort Worth Arts Fest - 05
Two weeks ago I went to see the Fort Worth Arts Fest. This was nice, crowded, but that was probably due to my timing for the visit and the gorgeous weather. I enjoyed this fest and can't wait to go back with Anna next year. It was set up very much like a German fest with lots of artist booths, food and entertainment stages. There were some neat and unique craft and art things, and I have at least one thing on my list, a floral photography print that I loved and will probably follow up and purchase as soon as I get my finances in order. This fest had some thing for everyone, lots for the kids and was a feast for the eye's. We're definitely going to have to go back and visit the Fort Worth downtown area. It seems as if there will be some neat things to see when you unbury it from the people. hb

2005 Fort Worth NAS Air Show
Yesterday William and I went to the Fort Worth Naval Air Station (formerly Carswell AFB) to see the Fort Worth, Texas Air Show. Man the weather was beautiful, nice and breeZy and in the low 80's. We enjoyed walking around and checking out the jets and heli's. I've been to better air shows but I did see some cool stuff that I've never had a chance to see before - so it was fun! The main attraction at the show was a USN Blue Angels. It was really hard to take pic's with this digital camera, exposure delay, lack of telephoto made it difficult to get any good shots; however, I have some nice pic's of Wm to share and got to take some great pic's of the planes a few years ago over the blue water and white sands of Fort Walton Beach, Florida (with my 35mm.) There was a lot at this show for the kids to enjoy, they did a nice job in bringing in stuff for them to do so Wm had a nice time also. Again, see the "continue reading" extended comments to see the pictures. hb
I wish that I had known they were going to do this before we left the flightline area. Always wanted to see this. What a rush this must be for the pilots and crew. A JATO Rocket take-off in a C-130 Herc.

A Nice Day at the Dallas Aquarium!
Last week, William came for his first visit to my house in Dallas. Although we both had to sleep on the floor and had no radio or TV, we still had a great time! Caught the movie Robot’s which was “ok” for a Pixar film, ate out a lot and Wm conned me into a fun, but unplanned stop at Chucky Cheese to play the games for an hour. William brought me a new fish tank (beings Ms Anna is the safe keeper of the guppies in Germany.) This is a nice little tank but we managed to fill it with this eel pictured below “jus kiddin!” Rather we made our way to PetsMart and bought a few new fishies, gravel and decorations. The new tank looks nice and it’s sitting on my counter in our “new” kitchen. I had planned on going to an Irish Parade that was suppose to be happening in downtown Dallas, and we made an attempt to find it but with no luck. We did however run into the Dallas Aquarium and Wm wanted to go. I’m always up for an Aquarium, Museum, Zoo or Park so I gladly told him “yes, we could go. So here are a few pictures from out trip to the Aquarium. Remember to follow the link below to see all of the pictures. William too the camera and snapped the first picture of the outside of the Aquarium. We both enjoyed this place and I definitely think that it’s worth another trip back some day. It’s very much presented as a visual and interactive celebration of nature, complete with aquatic, terrestrial, atmospheric, nocturnal and botanical representation. A cool place!
This man did a really neat MAYA fire dance. The Aquarium was celebrating their culture. He was in full cultural dress and had a male and female accomplice who played music while he danced. He did splendid show! Held his leg in a flame for 15 to 30 seconds and scooped up a fireball in his hand that he passed back and forth from hand to hand. It was a short, but nice show.

Fort Sill's and Geronimo!

The weather was “Great” again this weekend so William and I took a ride East to Lawton, Oklahoma. First we made a “Run for the Border” and then played some Putt-Putt Golf in town. I had seen a sign off of Interstate 44 that mentioned an Artillery Museum on Fort Sill’s, so that was out primary target (no pun intended!) So we went on to Sill’s and followed the signs until we spotted this place on a hill. The artillery was situated where it was all open to the public so we were free to wonder around and look for ourselves. As a bonus to the museum, we were right in the oldest part of the fort, which was really an open, un-walled Army Post back in the late 1800’s. It amazes me to realize that we’re only talking a little over a hundred years ago. And it was only a brief period of time in history that both the U.S. Army and Native American Indians were going at it in this area. So there was some old history here too (which I love exploring.) Look through our pictures so see some of what we had seen that day.
See all of our photos in the “Gallery to the Left” or click below on the “Continue Reading.” We had a nice day out, more dad/boy bonding time.

Die Foto-Galerie
This foto gallery thing, off to the left here, has taken some thinking, planning and re-thinking as to how to present it in a user friendly and visually ecstatic manner. And then it's been a lot of work too! Please be patient and it will all eventually come together. There's a lot of nothing there right now, but it will happen! hb

Quartz Mountain Park at Altus Lake
It was a beautiful day last Sunday (sunny skies, 81 degrees & a nice breeze) so I asked Ms. Carolyn if it would be alright for me to pick up Wm and take him exploring at the lake near us. I haven’t been up there yet and it seemed like a nice thing to do, a good chance to get out with my Willie and spend some time outside. I was surprised that “Altus Lake,” a State Park, wasn’t a 20 minute ride away and it turns out to be a really nice spot for hiking, hill climbing, running, camping, boating, biking and fishing. There’s a little amusement park there with small water slides for the kids in the summertime and facilities for the park to include camper sites (with services) a general store and even some cabins to rent. Well ok, Wm was enthusiastic about getting out going up there with me so we went. Him and I had fun and got some sun. We climbed one of the hills there (Wichita Mountain’s) and then he went down to the lake to play a little and get his feet wet. It all made for a very nice day out and some good daddy-son bonding time.
You can see the rest of our picture here (in Continue Reading Link below) or click on the picture of him playing on the beach in (my Photo Galleries to the left). hb
I took these two pic’s before I picked up Wm to go to the lake. They’re of an old slaughterhouse (or what I thought was one) in Altus, Oklahoma, by my hotel. Will come down someday, I’d imagine, but it has some rustic qualities that captured my shutterbug eye, so I captured it on camera. The building is located next to the old train station, which I unfortunately didn’t photograph.

Some More Pic's I Wanted to Share
I wanted to post these pictures for everyone before they became aged. Some I took, some Anna took and some Caro took. I thought they were all great pics, so I hope you enjoy them, I did! - hb

Anna took this picture of William and I in New York City over the Christmas week. I think this picture caught the "Boy & Dad" essence - and it made me smile to see it.

This is another picture that Anna took and shared with me. You know where! Rockefeller Center in New York City. Ok, goofy smile on my part :-D but it was an honest one!

Here I am. Caught with my watchdog, “Scout” Carolyn took this when I least expected it. At least he woke up!

Scuff’in-up the mangy, lovable mutt! He’s such a sweetie! Ms Carolyn caught this moment too.

I think this is a great picture of William and his Mom on her Birthday 1st week of this month! She had a really nice birthday this year!

William playing with his Volcano that Carolyn got him for Christmas. After the volcano explodes you can peel off the lava and eat it. A first I figure: candy lava!

Pic for Christmas
This is the picture William & I picked out to slide in our holiday cards. Although it's from last Winter, it's not a year old yet & the Booey hasn't changed much from when this was taken in March on the hilltop in Machenback, Germany. I thought it cheerful and wintery & fitting for the season. We hope that everyone enjoys it.
Hugs and Happy Cheers through the Holiday's to ALL from Bill & William!

A Few Pic's of Altus and the Road to Lubbock.
Here are a few pic’s that I took yesterday on my way home from Lubbock, Texas. The first picture is of a storm that rolled thru Altus last week; this is only 1 of 3 directions that the clouds were really freaky! I went to take a picture of the control tower because the clouds over top of it were wild looking but it started to poor so I missed that formation that occurred for on about 3 or 4 minutes.
Here’s two pictures of the Grand Plains in Texas. Just a small snapshot of the miles and miles of endless cotton fields, and the grand’s which border them.
Just a twilight foto. I wish I had a better camera. The moon rose and fell within an hour last night and the sky went from purple-blue to total star studded, black. I stopped and took this over a corral, tried to get more of the stable features in but the pictures in which I did, were blurry. Not too happy with the way these compress down to viewing size too, they loose a lot of definition.

North of the Border - Shopping at Trader's Village
This weekend I went on a trip with the Altus Air Force Base, Outdoor Recreation Department to “Trader’s Village” in Grand Prairie, Texas. Originally, I was supposed to go with Caro, Wm, but Wm got sick so Caro decided to just stay home and let me go. This was a good decision on her part. Actually this is rather a nice deal by the Recreation Department. For only $12 you get your transportation to-and-from the shopping location, which is a 3 1/2 hours drive to Fort Worth. I don’t think you can beat that anywhere. Next weekend is a trip to a shopping mall in OK City and I’m sure we’ll probably all make it together. Need to get my Christmas shopping done!
Humm, what to say about Trader’s Village??? Nice things to say?? All right, there were some interesting things to see, BUT as far as shopping goes, especially Christmas shopping, it was truly a bust. This place is very much like a Mexican Flea Market ( humm…Mexican border moved 6 hours north.) EVERYTHING you always wanted and NOTHING you always wanted. The Cream-De-La-Cream of Elvis Knives, Air Brushed Velvet Painting, Indonesian Polyester Clothing and 18 Pair-of-Socks for 10$ deals. Of all, I have to say that the produce markets looked absolutely fantastic but this is truly the home of Pimp-Your-Ride parts shops and the place that you can locate your stolen car stereo.
So other then for a short break for some chicken wing, Trader Village ended up being a 6-hour day on my feet, more so exploring with my camera then my wallet. Here are some pictures of thing, which either caught my eye or made for an interesting shot.
Click on the “EXTENDED COMMENTS” link below to see my boring shopping pictures. & Try NOT to yawn while your doing it! :-D
I need to mention my van trip to-and-fro. There were some interesting conversations going on. Most of the time I tried to rest and laid down on my seat (had the entire middle van seat to myself) but my comrades up front and in the back spared me no quiet for rest.
In the front of the van was the driver (of course) and two female (military) women. From one I persevered (ok, tollerated) the story of her skin cancer, cervix cancer, medical history and stories of embarrassing drug reactions. Oh boy! But the back of the van yielded much funnier tidbits. I do not divulge stories of my family and close friend in this same way :)
Anyway…there were two elder black women sitting behind me. From what I gathered, one of them was a schoolteacher and the other was a nursing home RN. They chattered the whole way to Fort Worth about a plethora of delightful subjects. This was interesting, I learned that most people go into the hospital with Staff Infections and then blame them on the hospital (could be true!) Also, one of the women said that most people have 18 inch colons but that she thought her colon was about 36 inches. OMG! I just caught the end of that. What the hell???
Lastly, they talked about drinking water. I thought this was rich! The nurse suggested to the teacher that she just boil tap water and then put it in her frig when she wants to use it for drinking water. Why? "Because you can’t trust that stuff that they put in packaged water bottles these days." She said, "they claim they use the process of reverse-osmosis to clean the water and that osmosis is that stuff that floats on top of the water." Huh??? Floats on top of the water??? To the benefit of me they slept for most of the way home. You know this made me just...happy! I am NOT going back to Trader's Village. Hb

An Evening at the "Altus Speedway" Races.
I know this is going to reeeeally excite some of you! lol :-D
Last night I went to track here at Altus. I like short track racing. It’s all fun, if you can get past the red neckish factor. Anyway, here’s a pic and two movies. My handheld (still photo) camera is not too good at motion pictures. It surprised me to learn that one of driver in a mini-stock class was only 13 years old, and she drove damn good, well...right up until her car broke, led the race for 47 of 50 laps. Too cool.

Out and About - Images of Okee 2
Here are a few more of my pictures from around the local Altus area. Left alone (over the Thanksgiving holiday,) this is the sort of mischief I tend to get into! (Smiling! :)

Here’s the South Fork of the Red River. I’m on the Texas side and looking across at the Oklahoma side. Would not have been too much to take horse and carriage across to stake out your claim, huh? And see! It really is a red river.
Lot’s of Cotton fields! Everything was harvested about 3 weeks ago, just before the heavy rains hit. This is good fertile soil here. I think the Winter crop is wheat and maybe soy in the Spring but they’re sure am miles-and-miles of cotton fields.
These little farmhouses are in the field right outside of Altus AFB. I think they were more like share-croppers homes. When I see an abandoned house, farm, or mill, it’s like a magnet to me. As long as it’s not posted, I like to look and explore. It’s the rustic aspects to photograph it which draw my attention.
When I see these places, I can’t help but think these were the result of somebody’s dreams once. A place once bright and new, an a place they probably happily called home.

Out and About - Images of Okee
Thare somm hialls just to the East of Altus that have been catching my shutterbug eye for over a month now, they're off US Highway 62 headed towards Lawton. This spot has a nice, long iron bridge that cross the North Fork of the Red River. It really is RED. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics!

CLICK ON - Continue reading "Out and About - Images of Okee" BELOW to see the rest of my pics. ---- HEY - my blog really is a "true skyblue," isn't it?
Shoot Signs, NOT people! - A good case for gun control I would say, but in Okee, Naaaaaa! Never going to happen! See! I shot it too!
The smaller inscriptions, at the bottom of this monument, give account of local area, founding families (ranchers and the like, not Indian) during the 18oo's.
WHY they decided to put this Cattle Drive Trail - Historical Marker under the approach clear-zone to Altus Air Force Base, I do not know??? Altus is an Air Training Command base. They teach cargo jockey’s how to fly C-17’s Globe Master’s and KC-175 Refueling Tankers here.

Finally! Back to Prague!
Here are my images of Prague. ok, maybe 1/3rd of them. I know some time has gone bye. I just never managed to post these as I was preparing to leave Germany and then was overtaken by Rothenburg. As my wonderful lady traveled to Zurich this weekend I became lonely to be with her. To make things worst, I was looking thru my pictures to have some developed and thought again about these. So here they are. In a way this is just medicine for my soul. I'm just remembering. Here was a nice, romantic time and I absolutely loved the city and being there with my lady. Please enjoy them! Knightly Events in Dallas!
Here’s my “one & only” picture from last night at the MidEvilTimes showplace in Dallas. Sir William really enjoyed the show and… ok, so did King Haughty. Sorry no more pic’s, I tried, but my dig camera can’t handle the dark, has no exposure adjustment… but hey! It was a gift so…. I’m not complaining!
Onward! The show was fun and “our” brave and talented Red & Yellow Knight won the overall jousting and horseman competition over the other colorful Knights. To add to this, he also defeated the Dreaded, Black, Belligerent & More Stud-ly Knight. Gasp! This Black Knight taunted us all evening! Full of snide comments and belittling remarks about our Brave, Sir Red & Yellow Knight! We could have it him with a horse flop!
Not surprisingly, ya know what?
Although he was handsome, thundering, long haired, ripped, daunting and swooned over by the very many young and admirable Princesses within the galley - while riding his Noble, Coal Black, Distinguished Steed, IN THE END, when be finally was dismounted, facing the blade of death and dishonor of defeat by More Noble Knight, can you say -“Lord Farquaad!” LoL! Ya just had to see it to believe it! ;-p Ha ha! (hb)

Calm in the Puppy Storm! & The New/Used Coche!
The puppy storm has ended and now Scout’s all by himself again. This is a calm within the storm. “Merlin” (use to be “Gateway”) is the black and white, the little girl “Sophie” is a real cutie, she’s brown with black tinge, and “Scout” is the brown with black spots. When Merlin came over, he tried to pull the “Hey! I’m the Alpha Male!” routine with Scout, but by the end of the week, Scout was “King Dog” and even Mama bowed to his new authority.
Mama Dog and Mutly Crew! It’s figured that the little girl pup will eventually end up being all black like her Mama. She’s brown now, but will likely get a little more Congito.
The new…used T-Bird. Soon to be officially mine I guess, when I can pry the title from the pervious owners. OK, that’s in the works, hopefully to be resolved by the end of the week. The interior of the car and the motor seen to be in great shape, transmission is good to go now but it could use some paint in spots. Has the dreaded cheesy-ass Ford paint job, acid rain syndrome.

Puppy! Kid! Projects! & Spiders!
OK, the puppy has finally managed to take over his territory. Of course he’s marked a few things, chewed a book, toys, toes, taken to running the fence like with the neighbors dog, has a personal fan club that regularly walk by on the sidewalk, and has thoroughly trained his owners. But he’s still a cutie!
It seems that upside down is the normal position of play, but when you get your hands near, there are gaping jowls of puppy death to contend with. (Not really, he’s good about not biting but does let you know that he’s got fangs.
I can’t help it! After I took this picture I realized that it looks as if he’s getting his “freak on” with this blue Pokeman. LoL! Maybe the Master should be spanked for that one! haha!
Yesterday’s emergency school project results! Due Monday, done Monday evening with a little help from you know who! This represents the Oklahoma State Bird, the Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher. Arriving at school this morning, mission complete!
(If you know me?) You know that this is my lovely son’s idea of terrorizing his father! Damn Brown Recluse spiders everywhere here too! Gives me the willies! I’ve killed 3 so far in 2 weeks and was told to watch carefully for Black Widows here also. Ughh!

Picture's of Sea World in San Antonio, Texas!
Here are the best of my pictures from last weekend and our trip to San Antonio, Texas and Sea World. I hope that you all enjoy them. Hugs! hb
This is just an added extra, William’s new poochie, he’s really a sweetheart and his name is “Scout.” A quiet bundle of puppy trouble!
William found this store with Hermit Crabs in the River Center Mall, downtown San Antonio.
Needless to say, I DID NOT miss my chance to get some Hooter Wings, and I had a partner in crime or two that assisted me. If you know me, you know that I firmly believe that there’s not a chicken wing which I never liked, but I’d kill for some Hooter wings!
William at the Dolphin Tank at San Antonio, Sea World.
Do I need to say that this is fun for kids! And you can feed them by hand.
OK. Busch Gardens, Sea World, FREE BEER! Need I say more!
Caro and the Booey after riding the STEEL EEL roller coaster at Sea World.
William, just chill’in by the Flamingo’s. Taken a breather at the end of the day!
The true hambone nature of my huggable, lovable monster :) Krazzzzy to the very end!

Tomorrow! Off to San Antonio, Texas!
Tomorrow I’m going with William and Carolyn to San Antonio (Pluto’s going with!) Going to hit Sea World and the Park there and of course the San Antonio River Walk, maybe Hooter’s for Wings, or one or two of the fantastic Mexican food joints. Beer at Dicks and maybe bring home some tomalleys. I have camera in hand!
I talked the crew here into the “German Thing” tonight and got them out of the house, away from the TV's, out from the kitchen and out for a walk. It was sort of a pretty evening, the sun was setting and there were two or three big thunderstorms off in the distance sparking lightning and with huge rain streaks in the sky. It was nice and our walk ended up being rather a, walk for me, bike ride for William and kickboard ride for Carolyn. So! Off we went and enjoyed the evening twilight, home by dark.
Can you see the halo around the sun in this sunset? It was more visible to the naked eye. William spotted this and took the picture from the back seat of the truck I’m driving. This is called Cirrostratus fibratus, fur shure! Jus for cloud techno-geeks!
Here’s William and his new puppy “Scout” He is a lovey-dovey sweetheart of a pup! And kid!

Quiet Images of Rothenburg on the Romantic Road
Here's the rest of my foto's from Rothenburg. Hope you enjoy them.
hb

I don't know why, but I like this welding style of art. Not that I'd choose to own any of it. In my mind it provokes images of futuristic Goth, which I like.

Anna really likes this picture. It was sort of an accident, I just happened to look up while we were busy walking down the street and it caught my eye. Pretty, but you'll never catch my house ivy or vines on it. To many damn spiders! They give me the creeps!

This bird actually landed right in front of me while I was playing around, trying to take a nice picture of this fountain and building background. So I took her picture instead.

Anna Banana :-) in front of a romantic hotel. Kisses sweetie.

I just had smiles when I saw this car, was lucky the picture came out. I took it bouncing around in the back of a horse buggy. OK, I have to say, I'd love to go, at least once, to the Love Parade in Berlin too. Nothing but a fun Techno Party, and the people watching memories would probably be a blast!

I think this house was pointed out as being one of the oldest in Rothenburg. It was said that it was rebuilt and is next to the city wall, has the city blacksmith adjacent to it. The wall was partially destroyed in World War II and rebuilt with donations from people all over the world. Their contributions are memorialized with plaques along the top of the wall, a lot of plaques. Only a small portion of the city was destroyed during the war and there's some interesting stories accompanying that history. Supposedly, the German's gave up the city in lieu of having it leveled. Ok, I'm no authority :), I'll have to read up on it. Sure glad that it turned out like it did, it's a beautiful city.

Saint Somebody :-) Maybe a Saint who managed to keep his head? This is now actually on the wall of the Criminal Museum. Sort of funny.

Just caught this pic as the sun was setting and we were leaving the village. Great foto op. :)

My parting shot. Oh shoot! Forgot to post Ducky!

Beautiful Summers End Day in "Rothenburg Od Tauber"
Last weekend Anna and I went to Rothenburg Od Tauber, Germany. This was Anna's first time here, and I think my third.
Although it's one of the biggest tourist places in Germany, a completely walled mid-evil city, there were relatively few people here last weekend, which was nice, and the weather was fantastic! Made for a nice, beautiful, relaxing day.
This was a "great!" something to do during my, next to last, weekend in Germany with my sweetie! Enjoy these pics. I'll post 20 of them that I shot, 10 today and 10 tomorrow.
PS: Yeah!!! FALL Starts TODAY! - I love this season! hb

What this is, I do not know? Maybe a German? SNIPE? :-D
I'm sure that my boy, William, would of loved to have one to show his friends.

Ummmmmmm Beer!

Main Market Platz in the town square. There are fountains scattered all around the town. Not quite like Rome or Paris but their nice.

Art? I guess? In front of the Rathaus, (City Hall) in the town square.
Actually, I thought it pretty cool! I'm sure the kids love em.

Eats!

Smoochie!

Neat!

Rick Steve's says that they use to pour "Hot Neutella" out of the mouth of this figure onto soldiers attempting to pillage the city. haha Cute Steve! The original "Death by Chocolate!" :)

The sky was beautiful today, whisped with horsetails here and there!

Speaking of tails. This must be an Anna tail. :) hehe
Ummm... Got my baby by the hair! :) Yeah!
